Agent Temprery

today Ben was telling Calli a story at the hospital to make her feel comfortable safe. then a doctor came in to make sure that they weren't dead. Then when Griff and Antonia were in the woods Antonia tried to make Griff calm down so that he would not harm her. and she kept telling him that when they checked the DNA test they would know that it was not Griff. and if they still think it was him then Antonia would say that Griff was with her when Calli disappeared.

A Freewrite!!!!!

Freewrite: "I remember where I was when..."

Last night was a fantastic night for Canada. It's times like that that I am going to remember for a long, long time...times like that that make me proud to be who I am and from where I am from.

Hockey is totally Canada's game and I have many memories of "where I was when" special things happened. I remember where I was standing in the rink when the rockets won the Prov championship in 1995. I remember intertwining my hands in the wire (something my mom would have been ticked off about) and watching my Dad lean up against the rafter brace as he coached. I remember the crowd and how big it was and how proud I was to be from Raymore when the buzzer went and we won that game.

I remember national events as well. I remember where I was when Canada beat the United States in the Salt Lake City Olympics of 2002. I was in Hancock Hall, a dorm on the University of Maine campus. It figures that I would be in the USA when that happened! It's ironic that I was in Hancock because that is where I ended up living when I came to UMaine that fall-- I lived there for 2 years. I was as proud of my country then as I am today.

I know I will remember yesterday's game for a long time as well; sitting on the couch, nervous with heart pounding...not talking to my husband, who sat beside me but wore stars and stripes instead of the maple leaf. I will remember the roar of the crowd, the passion of the country, the emotion in my own heard that I know was shared by 30 million other Canadians... my elated feeling that this is what it's all about. It was an amazing moment.

Post a comment about what you read today!

What are you reading?

We often forget that we don't just read books- we also read magazines, websites, street signs, the backs of cereal boxes, and more.

Take a minute and write about what you read today in SSR.

We had 20 minutes; write about what you read (summarize) and what you learned from it or thought about it.

2. What you did for an assignment (summary or newspaper article) and what you learned from it or why you enjoyed doing it.

** YOUR TWO TASKS FOR FRIDAY, JAN 29

Wow, guys...the last school day in January?? This month has flooooown by. I am very bummed out to be missing you all again. I am hoping you can do two things for me today on the blog so I can see what you're thinking and learning about a couple of things.

1. Please read the post I made on Monday. At the bottom, notice that there are 3 questions about the obstacles that Percy has come across so far in the book. What I would like you to do is write a little paragraph/summary of what has happened to Percy in his quest so far and what you think is to come. You might simply answer those questions, but use full sentences and paragraphs (SO NOT 1., 2., 3. ) Comment on Monday's post for that assignment!

** If you have read on, make a prediction about the next adventure you think Percy is going to come into contact with in whatever book you are on.

2. After you do that, please write a comment to this post about how you felt about this week. You can ask a question, tell me you're confused, tell me you finally got to liking the book (!! I know this is at least two of you!!)...etc. It can be anything. Even "this week was all right...kind of par for the course." I want to know how you feel heading into the weekend. The more specific you are, the better I can help you come next week.

I can't wait to see you all on Monday.

The Journey Continues...and so does your reading!

Hi Guys:

I am sorry I am missing you today (Tuesday); I am quite sick and at home working on getting better. But, luckily, this gives you guys some time to read and search for information about Percy's Heroic journey.

In your reading for Thursday (up to page 188) you'll read about 2 of the tests or challenges that Percy has to overcome as he begins his travels.

For today, go to the moodle site, open up "The Lightning Thief, Readings 1-4" and complete the questions listed in READING 4 (chapters 10 and 11). Please read all directions carefully.

Save your answers and thoughts in a WORD DOCUMENT in your lightning thief folder.

Sooooo....now that you have all of your information written in your folder, really quickly post a comment to the following prompt:

1. What are the two obstacles Percy encounters as he begins his quest?
2. How does he overcome them both?
3. Which of the magical items (the sword, cap, Mist, shoes) do you think are going to be the most helpful moving forward in the quest?

Percy Begins His Heroic Journey!!

Remember from last week that the Heroic Cycle begins with our hero at his or her starting point. Write a comment about how Percy’s journey has begun. You will probably include things like:

1. How Percy was given his quest
2. What is Percy’s quest
3. Why is he assigned his quest
4. Is Percy’s excited about it, nervous, scared….etc
5. Who are Percy’s friends that will travel with him and help him on his way

Your response will be a couple of good paragraphs. You may use your books to help you write it if you wish!
