We often forget that we don't just read books- we also read magazines, websites, street signs, the backs of cereal boxes, and more.

I'm reading the third book in the lightning thief series called, "The Titans Curse. Percy and some other half bloods are about to catch a ride with Apollo, Artemis's twin. They are on there way to camp half blood with a new demi-god Grover recently discovered.
ReplyDeleteSo i read 2 articles on BBC news. They were about deep sea fish. The first was about this huge 17m long oarfish that looks like a sea serpent. They had a video on it and it was pretty cool. The second article was about the Manefish i think. They are these fish that live 4.8mi below the water surface. They were pretty cool and actually cute which is something you dont expect miles below the surface.
ReplyDeleteI read about skiing fashions. I read about the different types of skiing brands, and styles. The person’s style that I liked the most when I was reading the book is Michelle Parker’s. Her snow pants are orange. I like them. Her jacket is Brown with orange teal and white spots all over it. They are Orage. She has Scott poles and Scott goggles. She has Dakine gloves and a Dakine backpack (which I really like!). Her skis are K2 misdemeanors. I also read about a few other’s styles. I also liked Sarah Burke’s style. Others that I read about were Kacie’s and Jacey’s.
ReplyDeleteDuring SSR, I read Dear John on amazon.com. I read the first few pages, and it explained about John's past. You learn that John and his father are very different, and they don't have a lot of money. You also learn that John starts to separate from his friends, because his friends are going into groups based on the clothes they wear and movies they see. Now, John is starting to hang out with the wrong people.

ReplyDeleteI am reading The Battle Of The Labyrinth. In the 20 minutes we got I found out that Percy had a dream about Tyson and Grover and they were in trouble. There was also an earthquake down in Labyrinth. Rachel finds Daedalus's workshop. Quintus is there when Percy, Rachel, and Annebeth get there. They find out he is Daedalus. That's as far as I got today....
ReplyDeleteI read funny street signs. some of them were pretty funny, like "CAUTION, Water on roads during rain" or "Do not stand, sit, climb or lean on zoo fences. If you fall, animals could eat you and that might make them sick. Thank You"
ReplyDeleteSo, I continued to read The Titan's Curse (book 3) and happened across a hilarious part that I could visualize very well. The "group" was in the Hoover Dam cafeteria and just got their burritos when they were attacked by the skeleton army. They start a burrito fight to try to make a scene to get away-- there is one part that says a burrito took off a skeleton's head. "Grover's lunch hit the skeleton and knocked his skull clean off his shoulders." It's a hilarious image!! All in all, the section of reading was hilghly enjoyable.

ReplyDeletei read a article in the Newsweek called OFF WITH THEIR PROFITS about an oil company in France that made $19.8 million of profit in one year but was then hated because they didn't give enough money back and had to fire 555 workers but the laid off workers not only their but at Sony, Caterpillar, and 3M were "boss napped"and held hostage for better severance packages.

ReplyDeleteI'm reading about the Iran government trying to trick its people to vote some one that they don't want to elect and a riot breaks out with its people with lots of injuries.
ReplyDeleteToday I read about the trails at saddleback, because i am going up there in febuary break. I wanted to see if they got snow, and they didn't. It made me sad, but they are getting snow soon. I can also rent telemark skis, which is awesome becasue i am learning how to do that.
